Let us shine our hearts today. We live in the world we praise. Let us join the world to know, sacred living snow. All those crystalline diamonds grow. We lift up our hearts to know. We are genuine in all we dew, just to be next to you. 

We are women who stand for the good. To make our men righteous views. We send our plumes of love to purify you with blessings from above. Great Spirits help us when we cry. Help the children who want to have good eyes. We are longing to feel this place, the making of the human face. 

Our tears are like diamonds in the sky, leaping and taking a great knew ride. We are traveling to the other side. Women await your return. When you come home, we will be waiting for you. We will be waiting with a meal or two. We will make your home arrival the norm, full of love for our SUNS. You are the gentlemen we did dream. We are longing to feel this cream, the washing over on the shore, when love is the holy roar. 

Tell me true and blue, the sound makes a home. We are the sovereign storm. We are taking back which is ours, the land we stand upon our hearts. And when you are lost and lonely to be rich, the heart of the sacred switch (punishment, the law of love, repeating until the treasure is shown), we will be there until you learn. We understand the burn.

Holy and reverent is your light. We are the glorious sun dancers in the knight. We send our blessings to the winds to bring our MEN home again. Warriors true blue we know you. We await for your returning home to this view. We women await your kiss. We know you are missed.   

Ghost walking is the true, the spiritual inside of you. Send me kisses in the winds. Women will catch them again, rather than hold onto the sins. We are crying everyone. We are the children of the roaming sun. We are telling the world how to bring in the true, the heart of me and for you.

Shield of Her Husband

Here a Sioux woman proudly carries her husband's cherished war shield, an honor the Sioux allowed their wives on special occasions, though it was not common in other plains tribes such as the Cheyenne. The shield was perceived as having been given magical powers, and warriors went to great lengths to prevent the loss of its medicine. Some, like the Comanche, kept their shields carefully protected by a leather cover when not in use, even secreting them in some safe place outside of camp to prevent their being contaminated and losing their power.

The buckskin dress, from the artist's own collection, is a very old one adorned with blue and red pony beads, a trade item in earlier times, and tiny bells that tinkle as she walks. From her belt is suspended a knife sheath decorated with porcupine quills and an awl case beautified with beadwork. We honor Howard Terpning
